Musical Workshop Part 1 — The Story Idea

Musical Workshop Part 1 — The Story Idea

In this first part of his German-language drama musical workshop, Michael Kunze explores the initial stage of the story-finding process — the story idea.

Does it matter where the idea comes from? No.
What matters most is your resonance.

How does the idea affect you?
Do you feel excitement, passion, energy?
What about 6 months later? 2 years?
Are you still blown away by the sheer emotional fire of your idea?

Without such a profound psychological impact there’s little hope that a story idea will pass the trials and tribulations of a long and difficult production process.

Dr. Kunze warns about looking for story ideas in current events and trendy movements. Trends can pass quickly, but the development of a good story — from the conception to the premiere — might take years.

Don’t try to be clever and tricky — listen to your inner voice!
